Sat, 9/20/2008 thru 12/05/08 UNEMBEDDED: Four Independent Photojournalists on the War in Iraq

Exhibit runs September 20th - December 5th, 2008 in the Odegaard Undergraduate Library at the University of Washington. It will include interpretative panels about the war's effect on human health and the environment in Iraq, as well as its impact on returning American veterans, their families, and communities.

Sat, 10/11/2008 Rally and March in Seattle

The march begins at Noon at Pratt Park, 20th and Yesler. March past the recruiting stations at 23rd and Jackson on the way to Cal Anderson Park at 11th and Pine.

Note:Chapter 134 (or any Tacoma vets) will meet at the parking lot east of the Tacoma Dome parking garage. Gather at 10:00

"The Seattle Antiwar Action Coalition (SAWAC) is a newly formed, diverse and democratic coalition looking to turn the massive antiwar sentiment in Seattle and the Northwest into a vibrant movement with the power to end the war. We are planning a march and rally in Seattle on October 11."

October 11, 2002 was the date that Congress approved the “Iraq War Resolution”.

Wed, 10/15/2008 Project Homeless Connect Project Homeless Connect helps homeless people obtain health, stability, and housing. The next scheduled date is October 15th, at the Tacoma Dome, Tacoma, WA: Volunteers are the heart of Project Homeless Connect and there are many ways to be involved. Prior to the event, training is provided that includes a walk through of the venue, a description of every service offered onsite, and clear assignment of duties. Peace Works Conference : Focus on Iraq and Palestine Occupations:

The Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice is sponsoring its third annual Peace Works event, Dual Occupations: Sovereignty and Freedom from Iraq to Palestine, October 17-19, in Olympia , Washington . This multi-generational conference will bring together journalists, scholars, peace organizers, Iraq veterans, and community leaders to deepen understanding of foreign military occupation in the Middle East and to connect those who work for justice and an end to occupation and war.

The three-day conference centered at The Evergreen State College Longhouse, will include panel discussions, workshops and cultural events, that provide a forum for bridging communities, acknowledging differences, and building broader and more effective coalitions for peace and justice. The conference will feature talks on U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East , women and war, personal witness of occupation, peace curriculum for middle and secondary teachers, art and media activism, organizing with veterans and military families, and other topics.

Sat, 11/8/2008 Auburn Veterans Day Parade 9:45 AM: Chapter 134 and other area chapters will be in the Auburn Veterans Day Parade.

Chapter 92 (Greater Seattle) wants to liason with members from other chapters to really demonstrate a significant presence in what is probably the biggest military parade in Washington. This will be the third time the VFP will participate in this event. Last year's contingent was well received.

The parade is believed to start at 10:00 AM. More information will follow.
